Microsoft announces that it plans to open 600 new stores in the U.S and Canada after an interesting partnership with Best Buy and its Canadian subsidiary Futureshop. The ratio is around 500 in the United States and 100 up north.
The Windows Stores inside of Best Buy and Futureshop will range in size from 1,500 square feet to 2,200 square feet, according to Microsoft.
Each store will feature an "innovation space" highlighting a variety of Windows scenarios across devices, a showcase section with the latest Windows-based PC form factors like ultrabooks, convertibles, detachables, all-in-ones, portable devices, and of course phones.
There is no doubt that from any single dollar spent by Microsoft in pushing Windows 8, Nokia (NYSE:NOK) will get its benefit in sales increase and in general branding leverage together with the promotion of the strugling ecosystem.
