  • Sequenom Signed Two New International Technology Agreements 6 comments
    Jun 3, 2014 2:36 PM | about stocks: SQNM

Sequenom (NASDAQ:SQNM) confirmed today at the Jefferies conference that they had signed two new international technology transfer agreements. They said they would disclose the countries and partners at a future date. These agreements will allow processing of tests locally, similar to the Life Codexx and Lab Cerba agreements in Germany and France.

I suspect one of these agreements is with Dr Lo in Hong Kong. They did not state why they were not able to disclose the partners currently, though it is likely to allow the partner to control the public relations release in the market.

    Disclosure: I am long SQNM.

Is Sequenom getting any cash from France and Germany yet? What are the prospects there?

Author’s reply » Short answer is yes to both. Life Codexx has been accepting samples for over a year and has processed around 10,000 tests in their lab. Lab Cerba is much more recent. I believe their lab was certified and accepting samples during Dec-13. Sequenom receives a royalty for each test with all costs paid by their partners. They don't disclose the ASP but my estimate is around $250-$300 per test. They have no costs associated with these markets aside from perhaps the royalty to Dr Lo.
These are large markets. The CE Mark should limit other NIPT providers from establishing labs in country. BGI seems to be the other play that has been willing to ignore this mark.

Author’s reply » One of these $SQNM agreements could also be Synapse Diagnostics in India. They are apparently launching M21 and the website suggests they will be using their labs.

India is a huge market but very limited spend in health care. This report has a lot of good info.
