A sequel to California--The Way Out

Lest anyone imagine that an out-of-control state bureaucracy is a problem particular to more 'liberal' states like California, we now present the following list from a putatively more 'conservative' state, Virginia.  And yes, Virginia is proposing to raise its income tax, close its highway rest areas (already done!) and furlough state troopers.  Anything but touch the Sacred Bureaucracy!

    Yes, Virginia, there's a Virginia-Israel Advisory Board.
Yes, there's a Virginia Transplant Council and Lobbyist In A Box.

For comic relief, there's also a "Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Hotline" !
Calling it gets you fired, I think.

Now remember, I'm not saying all of these are bad.  I'm saying there are too many of them.  And many services are more efficiently provided by the private sector, not to mention that they then stand a chance of being financed by the people who actually use them.
