When at the age of twelve, at the time of the Russian revolution, I first heard the Communist principle that Man must exist for the sake of the State, I perceived that this was the essential issue, that this principle was evil, regardless of any methods, details, decrees, policies, promises, and... There is a theme going on here, Cash for ________.

Cash for clunkers, cash for Wall Street, cash for home buyers, cash for home appliances and I highlighted the Cash for Criminals story on my instablog.  Cash for criminals.

This Reuters story may have outdone them all.
US Defense Bill would pay Taliban to switch sides.

The defence bill President Barack Obama will sign into law on Wednesday contains a new provision that would pay Taliban fighters who renounce the insurgency, Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin said on Tuesday.

Reaching out to moderate Taliban members is part of the Obama administration's plan to turn around the eight-year war in Afghanistan. Levin also has advocated trying to convince Taliban fighters to change sides by luring them with jobs and amnesty for past attacks.

So how exactly are we going to define moderate members?  Who is going to define moderate members?

Hey friend, I come in peace.  I know that you tried to tried to harm us in the past, but let's forget about it.  Remember that whole 9/11 thing?  Let's forgetaboutit.  We'll offer you a cushy government job if you join our side.

We have American citizens standing out Wal-mart on pay day waiting to buy food.  We have other American citizens standing outside Home Depot looking for day work, but we are going to give money to Taliban members to switch sides in the War on Terror?

US Tax payers paying for jobs for Taliban fighters? 1.3 billion dollars???

Whether you believe in the wars or not, I think most people would be against giving 1,300,000,000 dollars & jobs to Taliban members to switch sides.  Especially when we don't have the money and have to borrow it from China.

What are they going to think of next?
