  • CGTS TRADING SIGNALS FOR THURSDAY 9/23/10: PART TWO. A LOT OF STOCKS GIVING SELL SIGNALS. 0 comments
Sep 23, 2010 1:21 PM | about stocks: XRT, VCI, TXN, SLW, SLG, SCGDX, SBUX, RY, PPS, NFP, MSFT, GOOG, MITI, LWSN, LAVA, IYW, IYR, ICON, HON, GG, NEM
CGTS TRADING SIGNALS - PART TWO

FRG, Frontier Gold.  M5 3 vs Average Diff 2 Trading System: Buy.  More appreciation for gold stocks.  As long as Dr. Ben wants to spend, spend, spend, gold is going higher, and TBonds are too.  Gold up; TBonds up; Oil down; Stocks down.

GG, Goldcorp.  M5 3 ASP ALT LT2a Trading System.  It's dangerous to sell a stock in a full-out bull run.  This system gave a sell signal for GG a couple days ago.  Now it's giving a buy signal.

HON, Honeywell.  M2F ALT M4 2 Trading System: sell.  Trading Range trading.  A good company; a good run.  Seems to be topping.

ICON, Iconix Brand Group.  M2F ALT M4 2 Trading System: sell.  Has run to the top of the trading range and now wants to pull back.  Take profits and re-load.

IO, Ion Corp.  M2F ALT M4 2 Trading System: sell.  Has fallen short of resistance.  If it turns down here it HAS NOT done its job to be considered bullish.  It HAS NOT taken on the old high.

ITMSF.PK, Intermap Tech.  M5 3 vs Average DIFF2: cover shortsale.  Should attempt to rally here, and fail.  M5 Average (black line, Top Pane) is in a freefall.  This almost always guarantees lower prices.  We are following our system.  But we think this one is headed even lower.

IYR, Real Estate ETF.  M5 3 Visual Trading System: sell.  Small profit, short-duration trade.  Seems headed down.

IYW, US Tech ETF.  M2F ALT M4 2 Trading System: sell.  This is a pretty good picture of a stock caught in a trading range.

LAVA, Magma Design Automation.  M4 Spike Trading System: sell.  Very nice profit.  Lava is cooling, and coagulating, and getting read to flow downhills some.

LWSN, Lawson Software.  M4 Spike Trading System: Sell.  More trading range trading.  A good gain.  Looks like this stock is softening.

MITI, Micromet Inc.  M5 3 Visual Trading System: sell.  Small loss.  Time to get out.

MOT, Motorola.  M4 Spike Trading System: sell.  The pressure on the stock for the next 10-days to a week will be gravity, attempting to pull the stock lower.

MSFT, Microsoft.  I wish I would have bought MSFT in the early 80's when I first tried their software products which were miles ahead of the others I tried.  I didn't.  I've regretted in all my life.  Today, MSFT looks a bit helpless.  A big sea change -- and Bill G's guys are having trouble figuring things out.  Pathetic rally this time.  Heading lower?  Will it go into the teens?  Stay tuned: we'll see.

NFP, National Financial Partners Insurance Group.  M5 3 Visual Trading System: sell.  Not an impressive stock.  Is base-building perhaps.  Did make a new short-term high and held support on the last decline.  Could roll back down and test lows from 2009.  Stocks that top well below the M5 Momentum and M5 Average indicators (top pane) are troubled issues.

PPS, Post Properties REIT Retail.  M4 Spike Trading System: Sell

RY, Royal Bank of Canada.  M4 Spike Trading System: Sell.  This is a pretty lame picture and makes me wonder if the Housing Bubble trauma might be coming to Canada as well.  Weaker and weaker rallies.  This is a pretty amazing consolidation pattern now.  Will it break up or down, out of the flat channel it is forming?

SBUX, Starbucks.  M2F ALT M4 2 Trading System: Sell.  I read today that SBUX is raising prices on its drinks again, after having lowered them over the last two years.  Don't they get it: higher prices are only going to lose customers.

SCGDX, DWS Scudder Gold Fund.  M5 3 ASP ALT LT2a Trading System: Sell.  Why sell a gold fund when gold refuses to go down?  I don't think this one is going down either.  But I follow my systems.

SLG, SL Green Realty.  M5 3 Visual Trading System: sell.  Take profits.  Don't get me started on real estate companies.  Support at 56.08.  Let's see if it holds.

SLW, Silver Wheaton.  M5 3 ALP ALT LT2a Trading System: sell.  (I don't want to sell this one.  Too much positive momentum at the moment.  But...)

TD, Toronto Dominion Bank.  M5 3 Visual Trading System: sell.  Another bank stock to sell.

TXN, Texas Instruments.  M2F ALT M4 2 Trading Ssytem: sell.  A run up to the top of the trading range: take profits and see how far down it goes.

VCI, Valassis Communications.  M5 3 Visual Trading System: sell.  Not much of a profit.  Not much of a rally.

XRT, Retailers ETF.  This chart should have been in our Index Section.  This is not a trade, but just an update of where it is.  It is probably topping.  Momentum is breaking down.  Look for lower prices here.
