Nearly one hundred and fifty years ago Lewis Carroll conceived the idea that eating made you larger while drinking made you small. Only now have academic researchers confirmed the rightness of his vision. A research team lead by Brenda Davy, Ph.D. presented findings at this year's annual American Chemical Society meetings that water loading before meals can reduce caloric intake and weight gain... The Davy trials present yet another troubling issue: that the act of swallowing pills with 8, or more, ounces of water may contribute to weight loss. Without placebo-controlled efficacy trials the contribution of water to product performance, or conversely the contribution of ingredients sold to reduce weight, remain very difficult to discern.
