  • International Coal Finds Coal Seams From Drilling At Bundaberg 0 comments
    Nov 1, 2012 11:30 PM

International Coal (ASX:ICX) has the results of six holes drilled at the Bundaberg project with a Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd subsidiary.

It has been a very solid start to the drill program for the JV partners.

EPC 2194 and EPC 2196 at Bundaberg are part of the company's Farm-In and JV with Queensland Coal Investments Pty Ltd.

Drill progress has been strong with a further 3 - 6 holes scheduled for the next 3 - 4 weeks.

Geological consultants, Salva Resources and drillers are conducting the programme under the direction of management from the JV partners.

Drilling commenced on EPC 2196 where hole ICM_2012_005 was drilled to a depth of almost 300 metres.

A core hole was then drilled adjacent to hole ICM_2012_005. The results contained cumulative coal thickness of around 5.5-6.5 metres from drilling to 300 metres with seam intersections of 1-3 metres encountered.

Following the intersections of this coal on EPC 2196, the program will consider drilling a number of holes to the north of this hole to test for coal seam continuity.

In addition to this, holes have been drilled at ICM_2012_001, 002, 007 and 012 in the north eastern side of EPC 2194. It is expected that drilling will be conducted in the southernmost part of EPC 2194 over the forthcoming weeks.

Initial drilling at EPC 2194 in the north eastern side of the tenement (at holes ICM_2012_001, 002, 007 and 012) did not produce any evidence of coal seams.

Technical laboratory results are due from the core hole drilled within the next 3 - 4 weeks.

The thickness of coal seams encountered by International Coal and Hancock Prospecting is significantly thicker than the seams encountered by a number of explorers in the area. This bodes extremely well. With lab results due in the coming weeks, there is further newsflow apparent.
