  • Canamex Resources Forms Technical Advisory Committee To Advance Mineral Projects 0 comments
    Jan 16, 2013 4:54 PM

Canamex Resources Corp. (CVE:CSQ) (OTCQX:CNMXF) Wednesday announced the formation of a technical advisory committee that will make recommendations on technical matters relating to its mineral projects.

The three members of the committee are Canamex president and COO Greg Hahn, who will assume the role of chair, Kurt Allen and Dr. Stuart Simmons.

The company said that the committee was formed as per the terms of an ancillary rights agreement with Hecla Canada Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hecla Mining Co. (NYSE:HL), and will report to Canamex's board. The first meeting will be held on January 23.

Late last month, the Vancouver-based company closed a further financing with US giant silver producer Hecla Mining for just over $21,000. Hecla already owned roughly 15 per cent of Canamex.

"We are delighted Kurt Allen and Dr. Stuart Simmons have agreed to join the company's technical advisory committee," said Hahn.

"Both men have outstanding academic and professional qualifications, and I look forward to working with them as we advance our mineral projects."

Hahn is a certified professional geologist and a geological engineer with more than 35 years of experience in exploration and mine development. He was a founding director and shareholder of Marathon PGM Corp., which was sold in November 2010 toStillwater Mining Co. (NYSE:SWC) for $170 million.

Prior to joining Canamex, Hahn served as director and interim president and CEO of Silver Bull Resources Inc. (TSE:SVB) (NYSE MKT:SVBL).

Allen, the director of new projects for Hecla, has over 25 years of experience in the mineral exploration and mining industry, with emphasis on volcanic and sediment hosed epithermal gold-silver deposits.

He has worked for Hecla since 1991 holding various positions, including senior mine geologist, chief geologist, and manager of exploration at Hecla's Rosebud deposit, and district geologist, chief geologist, exploration manager and GM at the company's San Sebastian deposit in Durango, Mexico.

Prior to joining Hecla, Allen also worked for CoCa Mines and Geodome Resources Ltd.

Simmons is a consulting and research geoscientist serving clients in exploration and discovery of mineral and geothermal resources. He specializes in analyzing and interpreting patterns of hydrothermal alteration/mineralization and fluid chemistry, and has published over 70 papers dealing with epithermal mineral deposits, hydrothermal minerals, hot springs, and geothermal resources.

Simmons is a former director of the Geothermal Institute, University of Auckland, where he was employed for over 20 years. In 2008, he began work as a full-time consultant, and in 2011 he was appointed research professor at Colorado School of Mines.

Canamex Resources is focused on the Aranka North gold project in Guyana, South America and the Bruner gold project in Nevada.

Earlier this month, the company said it had in excess of $4.1 million cash on hand at the end of 2012, and believes it has enough to carry out its exploration work at both projects into early 2014.

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours.
