  • Speewah Metals Defines Three Copper-Gold Priority Targets At Speewah Dome 0 comments
    Mar 14, 2013 10:49 PM

Speewah Metals (ASX: SPM) has identified key copper-gold targets that will be the focus of its exploration activity at its Speewah Dome project in 2013.

Reprocessing of airborne magnetics and other datasets has identified the Todhunter prospect as a high priority copper-gold target with previous surface samples having returned peak values of 7.3 grams per tonne gold and 0.71% copper.

The zone is untested to the north and south.

    Significant structure

New 3D modelling developed by incorporating some 2D and 3D geophysical modelling has allowed Speewah has delineated a 2.5 kilometre long fault with the potential for several mineralised targets.

This significant structure is north-south trending with interpreted steep westerly dip, and is located near the western edge of the Speewah Dome and along an interpreted gravity gradient.

Significantly, it appears to truncate a series of NNW trending faults and veins to the east and it is these intersections that may control gold-copper mineralised shoots along the north south fault.

A simple reconstruction of the dips on the various faults and their intersections suggests the Todhunter zone of high grade gold mineralisation may occupy a shoot plunging steeply to the northwest.

Several other similar north south faults can be seen in the re-processed high resolution magnetic imagery and these structures will also be an important focus for further mapping and sampling in 2013 to locate similar targets.

    Grey-Hayden and East Dome

Speewah has also built a comprehensive dataset at the Grey-Hayden and East Dome locations comprising airborne magnetics, gravity, SAM and IP surveys, surface sampling and some drilling.

Reprocessing similar to that undertaken at Todhunter is underway.

Previously reported surface samples at these locations graded up to 27.5% copper, 25 ounces per tonne silver and 4.95g/t gold.

Exploration in 2013 will prioritise these three targets and the delineation of further targets throughout the Speewah Dome including drilling.

The identification of a high priority copper-gold target validates the company's strategy of focusing on copper-gold targets at unexplored fault locations.

Taken together with Grey-Hayden and East Dome, the Todhunter prospect highlights the potential for several mineralised structures to exist within the Speewah Dome area.

Defining a 2.5 kilometre long fault with the potential for several mineralised targets is intriguing and adds spice for further exploration in 2013.

The Todhunter prospect is particularly interesting given a similar setting, similar types of rocks and same type of mineralising system as the Pajingo project in Queensland.

This sets the scene for an interesting exploration program in 2013.
