Pioneer Resources Secures $120,000 Grant For WA Nickel Sulphide Drilling

Pioneer Resources (ASX: PIO) has been awarded $120,000 in funding to complete drilling of nickel sulphide targets at its Golden Ridge and Fairwater Projects in Western Australia.

The company was advised by the State's Department of Mines and Petroleum that it is eligible for the co-funding under the seventh round of the Exploration Incentive Scheme.

Under the EIS, funds committed by Pioneer towards the drill programs will be matched by funds from the program.

Pioneer said the grant is indicative of the quality of its projects and technical programs, notably given that EIS funds are subject to a competitive process and to independent peer review assessment.

Golden Ridge is located 30 kilometres southeast of Kalgoorlie and covers 163 square kilometres. It includes the Blair Nickel Mine that produced 33,000 tonnes of nickel.

The company has identified five drill-ready targets.

Fairwater covers 1,442 square kilometres in the Albany-Fraser Mineral Province.

Work by the company has identified the FWN001 target that forms a discrete anomaly 4 kilometres long directly overlying the Proterozoic-Achaean bounding structure and contains auger-soil sampling assays up to 250ppm nickel and 68ppm copper.
