  • King River Copper Intersects Multiple Quartz Veins With Sulphides At The Speewah Dome Project 0 comments
    Oct 27, 2013 10:29 PM

King River Copper (ASX: KRC) is progressing its drilling program at its Speewah Dome Project in Western Australia with multiple quartz veins with sulphides intersected at the Chapman Flats target.

These veins are thought to lie along the northeast trending fault structures that extend to Chapman in the east, where rock chip samples had returned copper value of up to 39% copper.

The program is currently 35% complete with 34 holes drilled for 744 metres. Drilling has yet to begin at the Greys North and Todhunter prospects.

It will deploy an additional rig to drill deeper and infill around the quartz-sulphide mineralisation.

The drilling campaign is designed to test the basement for copper-gold mineralisation in alluvium covered areas where soil anomalies, surface rubble and the geophysical interpretation suggest basement targets.

Samples from the drilling are being progressively sent to the laboratory from the field and at this time all drill assay result are pending.

At Chapman Flats, three lines of holes, all inclined at 60° to the east, have intersected multiple mineralised quartz veins with sulphides (possible arsenopyrite and malachite after chalcopyrite).

These veins are thought to lie along the northeast trending fault structures that extend to Chapman in the east, so there is promise from these early holes.

Drilling about 1 kilometre north of Greys will test an arsenic soil anomaly, several rubble areas with copper and gold mineralisation - including a float sample with 8 grams per tonne gold, a geophysical VTEM anomaly and a newly found mineralised vein outcrop just east of the VTEM anomaly.

    About 22 holes are planned.

Drilling at the northern end of the large Todhunter structures will commence in about one week.

The planned holes are located north of the main copper and gold discovery where previously reported quartz breccia returned up to 3% copper and 7g/t gold.

These holes target where the Todhunter mineralised faults may extend under cover supported by soil Niton anomalies and newly discovered veining with visible malachite staining.

A second drill rig arrives on site this week to help complete the programme before the onset of the wet season. This slightly larger rig will facilitate drilling deeper holes and infill around holes with quartz-sulphide mineralisation.

    Other Exploration

Field sampling and mapping is continuing with the discovery of additional copper mineralised veins in the Chapman and Todhunter areas.

Additional batches of rock chip samples are in the laboratory and assay results are pending, including the Chapman, Todhunter and King Central prospects.

While assays are still pending, King River Copper's drilling program has already intersected multiple quartz veins with sulphides - including arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite that are indicative of gold and copper mineralisation.

Assays from this drilling are likely to be closely watched and could provide substantial upward momentum for the company's shares if it follows up on the successful 2013 field program to date.

Further catalysts include the drilling and results from the Greys and Todhunter prospects. This includes the totally new target area north of Greys that has similar looking rocks to Hayden, where rock chips returned up to 27% copper and 24 ounces of silver.

Shares in the company have climbed 500% in less than six months and could continue to be sought after, with a share capital tightened by a share buy-back and on-going good exploration and drilling results.
