Batavia Mining requests trading halt

Batavia Mining (ASX: BTV) has requested that the company's shares be placed in pre-open until the earlier commencement of normal trading on Tuesday, 13 April 2010 or when an announcement is released to the market.

The company said it is not aware of any reason why the trading halt should not be granted.

Batavia Mining is an investment and iron ore exploration company with a particular focus in Australia.

In late 2009 the company entered into a Heads of Agreement (HOA) to acquire the Roper River Iron Ore Project in the Northern Territory of Australia.

Batavia has subsequently entered into the final and formal binding agreements to fully document the option and has paid the option consideration.

The Company has until 29 July 2010 to determine whether to exercise the option. Batavia is currently conducting an extensive due diligence and exploration programme on the Project.

Batavia Mining shares last traded at 23 cents.
