What Cisco can learn from IBM?

1. Divest its Linksys and Scientific Atlanta division just like what IBM did with its PC and Hard Disk unit.

2. Acquire a strong leader in the critical WAN Performance Solutions arena.

3. Set up a corporate top architecture team to help lead Cisco to enhance its products to better meet the emerging Cloud Computing centric corporate IT needs.

4. Never deviate from its CORE again!  Cisco is known for mission-critical corporate networking solutions, not for $20 simple net gears that you can shop online or at Fry's.

5. Cisco is probably 10 years behind IBM in business model refinement and transformation caliber.  So it is critical to hire some senior executives with IBM-equivalent qualification for this big void in the senior executive team.
