  • Rim's BB10 Pictures Speak 1000 Words That End With Hot 13 comments
Jan 29, 2013 9:35 AM | about stocks: AAPL, BBRY

There is an internal dialog here in Seeking Alpha contributor land that deliberates the optimal size of an article. Given the heated debate between us contributors regarding the future of Research In Motion (RIMM), I thought the following pictures leaked to Gizmodo in the article "Sorry Apple, the Blackberry Z10 Is Hotter Than the iPhone" (NASDAQ:AAPL) of the new Blackberry BB10 speak a thousand words. Truth be told, I want one. And I want more stock too.

Gizmodo also does a great job on a video which shows a RIMM representative walking through the operational functions of the BB10 in the article "The Complete BlackBerry 10 Video Walkthrough: Surprise, It's Neat".

We can understand the jitters some shareholders have in anticipation of tomorrow's launch of the BB10, but maybe these two articles are what you need to calm the nerves and see what your company has in store for the launch.

Disclosure: I am long RIMM. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it. I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.

Additional disclosure: This article does have any financial or market details. I lay the case for being long RIMM in my previous articles you can find here: seekingalpha.com/author/tufenk/articles

    Stocks: AAPL, BBRY

After a lot of searching I finally read a few NEGATIVE comments about BB10 / Z10 on the net on various websites. I have to say, since then, I do consider myself one of those jittery shareholders'.

That said, Thorsten Heins had very little time to turn this company around. Based on my reads, he only took over the chair in March of 2012 and in 1 year - everything he has done seems to have helped the company. This despite some people not liking him to open his mouth and spill some beans like changes in the fee structure.

I don't know much but know enough to trust someone like Thornstein who has proven to be a very good leader despite all the odds stacked against him.

I have faith in his vision.

Wow! Looks like I just made the decision to stay long $RIM.TO $RIMM! At least until Q1 results are out!

A bumpy ride in store but RIM has the goods and their timing in a stale mobile market will be seen as serendipitous.

    Have patience and be Long

I like the fact that it is a little bigger than the iPhone. One of the problems I have with the iPhone is that is's too small on the hand. I think this is just right!!

If what we have seen so far is awesome then surely there is more awesomeness to BB10 and Z10. I have my stop loss in place but I am confident that @GeorgeKesarios' prediction will come true and we just may see $RIMM trading near $56.00 within 12 months!!!

I do wonder how soon after the launch will we see the analyst upgrades (or downgrades)

Good eye George. I see the same think, and agree with you 100%

FYI - The PlayBook is out selling the iPad in many countries. Go figure.

BB10 is the iPhone killer. Mark it !

Author’s reply » I think they may have a real winner on their hands, defintely good enough to keep their ticket to the show and get their next chance at bat. Market-Cap will go up too. Thanks George

Why not call Disney? oh, how about "antitrust" for one reason?

""Creative houses" such as Disney dream about access to a juggernaut distribution channel like this" . . . right, and the Justice Department slaps an antitrust lawsuit on such juggernauts whenever they try to control distribution of their content in that way. We've been here before. Just as Time-Warner has been unable to efficiently exploit its cable holdings to support either its film, HBO, or (former) Warner Music holdings, so Apple would be equally ham-strung trying to extract an advantage from being the dominant player in that way.

Author’s reply » Time-Warner was hampered by their heavy debt burden. The impediment to distribution stopping content ownership is a red herring that anyone, including Comcast buying NBC recently, has gotten over rather easily. Maybe laziness is a better excuse. If they wanted to get this deal done, it would be a no-brainer. In fact I know three white shoe law firms that would be at Laurene's door to convince her its doable.
