    Pulp-and-paper side, demand for pulp has kept prices robust and paper sales are recovering from 2009’s low. During 2010, Asian investment in the pulp sector picked up with Asia Pulp and Paper acquiring two B.C. mills: Mackenzie’s mothballed mill and Howe Sound Pulp and Paper.

    China textile giant Fulida Group Holdings made its first foray into B.C. by taking an ownership position in Port Alice’s Neucel dissolving sulphite pulp mill early in 2010. With 2011 little over a month old, Fulida bought out its other partners in Neucel, taking full ownership of the mill to meet exploding demand for rayon fibre in China and globally.
