  • Trading Plan for Tuesday Feb 16-Great Stock Moves Last Week..What to Expect in This Weeks Market 0 comments
Feb 15, 2010 8:38 PM | about stocks: HUM, LFT, VIT, VLTR, BVN, VRX, BUCY, WRC

    MARKET TIMING

The market ended up having multiple selloff attempts on Friday but bounced higher every time. This is a good sign but could be nothing more than some short term, short covering ahead of the long weekend. When you compare the recent moves in all the major indices, we are seeing much bigger moves in the small and mid cap indices than in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq.  Also by looking at the charts of the following indices we can see this market may be getting short term overbought

Definately some heavy resistance ahead on all these charts

    Russell 2000

    S&P 400

    S&P 500

    Nasdaq

When you look at the RSI indicators, most of the indices are short term stretched to the upside. We also could see some slowing of the markets as they get caught up aroung the 100 day and especially the 50 day moving averages.

What this tells us is we are not at a high probability point to enter into new positions and a better place to be taking profits or closing trades that are struggling

    OPEN POSITIONS

VRX new highs. 2 Entries 1 up 13% the other up 6.5% this week already

VLTR-New setup already up almost 15% this week

    BVN-Already up around 9%

VIT-This new setup is already up 8%

BUCY-Up nearly 14% on this new setup!

LFT Second half stopped out. First half up as much as 6% from our Feb 8 entry.

WRC could take off but getting stuck at the 200 day for too long makes me nervous

HUM-We would look to close out if trades below Friday's lows.

    NEW SETUPS
Not a high probability entry point to initiate new trades. Important to not overtrade right here and better to focus on properly managing open positions.  Like in anything, having success depends on not only  having a solid offensive strategy but  a solid defensive gameplan as well.
