The Rolling Stones have announced that Mick, Keith, Ron and Charlie will be reunited for a 50 year anniversary tour. Imagine that! How old are those guys? Gives new meaning to Start Me Up. Get your tickets now-- there might not be a 75th anniversary tour.

As everyone knows, interest rates are low. They are historically low. Bond rates were slightly lower this summer, but other than that, are lower than they have been in ten, twenty, thirty, fifty, one hundred or two hundred years. Our data goes back to 1790, a full two hundred twenty-two years ago. That's four Stones' careers.

Looking at Britain, and before that England, bond rates have never been lower in their three hundred eighteen years of record keeping since 1694. Long enough for six Stones' careers.

But the Dutch are the best at keeping financial records. Theirs date back to 1517. And during all of that time, interest rates have been higher than now: the equivalent of 10 Rolling Stones careers. A truly remarkable time period.

Interest rates are so low that guessing the future based on the past becomes impossible, as there has been no past period like this one. Our best guess is rates will rise.
