Long a buy and hold investor, I now believe that buy and hold has to be re-evaluated in a world of ever increasing, instant information and huge gyrations in markets all over the world. A value investor at heart, I anchor my portfolio with conservative funds and blue chip dividend stocks, but... More

  • What do you think about Lithium itself? I've been holding LIT ETF for a year now, with no to slightly negative returns. I don't want to let go since something tells me it should pop up sometime in the medium term. Maybe it's just money going to waist?

  • I hold a number of lithium stocks and continue to believe that, as the EV market evolves, there will be a shortage of lithium in the medium term, benefitting producers like Talison who are leading the charge.

LIT is not a pure lithium play as it's largest holding, SQM, among others, produces lithium as a by product of it's larger potash operation. Most "brine" companies, including SQM, FMC et al, sell lithium on the "spot" market which is not sufficient for EV companies looking for a guaranteed supply chain. Spodomen producers like Talison (they also hold large brine properties) can guarantee supply through individual contracts. Talison currently supplies over 300 customers this way. LIT also holds battery manufacturers, which are not lithium plays.

Having said that, potash is a valuable product with great upside potential, so this should play well for LIT. Now is not the time to sell LIT. It may well be the time to buy more.

    Hope this helps.

  • Great thanks. So I'll stick to my LIT and give some thought to buy Rodinia Lithium if I run into some cash. Thank you for your prompt reply!

  • Rodinia took a dump today! Any clue why? This price is ridiculous at $.15 per share!

  • There is very little logic to the market right now. I have used the dip in price to increase my position. Best

  • How speculative would you say your call is?

  • Very. That is why it is a penny stock. Also, the macro environment has been terrible for all stocks, especially the micro's

Having said that, a company that owns 3 of the top 25 lithium properties on the planet, with such a low market cap, has no where to go but up. Time is the only variable in my opinion.
