Why Two Venture Capitalists Would Exit Twitter Board Now?

|Includes:CNBC, FirstFed Financial Corp. (FED)

Twitter confirmed that two of its board members, Fred Wilson, a principal at the venture capital firm Union Square Ventures, and Bijan Sabet, a general partner at Spark Capital, have left the board.  Early stage investors like them and venture capitalists in New York City will be in attendance at Venture Capital Happy Hour, http://www.VCHappyHour.com, on Tuesday October 4, a unique opportunity to connect with the visionaries, investors and advisors of the next Facebook, Google and Groupon. Venture Capital Happy Hour receptions are great opportunities for practitioners to speak with unprecedented candidness about their trade, both opportunities and challenges.

Mr. Wilson, who writes a popular blog, is widely seen as a major figure in the company’s development. Union Square Ventures, which made its first investment in Twitter in 2007, and Spark Capital are two of the company’s earliest investors. The announcement comes at a transitional moment for Twitter, which recently tapped its former chief executive and co-founder, Jack Dorsey, to lead product as executive chairman. The microblogging service has also had several departures this year, including the resignation of Abdur Chowdhury, its chief scientist, and Biz Stone, a co-founder and creative director, who stepped down from day-to-day operations in June.
