  • Reasoning behind DISH Acquiring Blockbuster 0 comments

We believe DISH's goal is to end up with the lowest cost distribution platform, and the strategy is to scale it with as much capital efficiency as possible. We see DISH first rolling out a Blockbuster OTT offering and then linking it to the DISH Network via broadband connections to its STB/DVR, providing each business with scale that neither would have on its own. Over time, DISH could add location shifting by embedding Sling in its DVRs, and then repurpose its spectrum assets and Hughes' VSAT technology to develop a wireless delivery platform for on-demand and OTT content.
