Stocks moved between gains and losses Monday as a strengthening dollar offset a few M&A deals in the technology and defense sectors.
Despite the slim losses, the three major indexes continue to hover near their highest levels since 2008. The S&P 500 rose to a fresh two-year high at the start of the session Monday morning, while the Dow and the Nasdaq touched two-year highs last Friday, as President Obama signed a tax-cut plan into law. Stocks have been trending higher since the compromise deal was announced.
