In September, claim trading volumes in large corporate chapter 11 cases dropped off a cliff. After over 1,100 claim transfers were recorded in August, less than 350 notices were filed in September. That represents, by far, the lowest level of claims trading activity so far in 2013. In fact, several cases have had more claims trade in a single month this year than traded across all cases in September. Nevertheless, claims transfer notices were filed in 46 large chapter 11 cases, including several cases where claim trades were recorded for the first time.
