Earth Day is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment; where everyone is encouraged to do at least one good thing for the environment. In light of this special day, we are going to feature our favorite “Green” companies.

$CAL With the release of their Q1 profits this morning, the market is set to do well. And besides just having a good market, CAL “recognizes the importance of protecting and preserving the environment: between 2006 and 2009, the airline collected more than 16.6 million pounds of recyclable materials from its hub airports and operated the first demonstration flight by a U.S. carrier using biofuel.” You can read more about what they’re doing to celebrate Earth Day in their latest PR here

$SU Its environmental and social efforts have earned it membership in the Dow Jones sustainability index for improving it’s emissions intensity, nitrogent oxide, sulfur and energy by 25% since 1990. The market is down about 2% today, but this is a good one to watch closely for that low entry point as they will are scheduled to report their Q1 results after the market closes on May 3, 2010.

$PCG Aggressively helps their customers have better more energy efficient homes and even subsidizes homeowners $75 grants when they buy energy-efficient appliance for their homes. They are also looking into other alternative clean power sources. The market seems to have recovered a bit from some lows in the market back in February and seems to have a good stable chart, making it a good long term play.

Happy Earth Day! And don't forget to do your one good thing!
