I used to run a limited partnership, boutique hedge fund in the 90s. Retired in 2000 and moved from New York City to Toronto, Canada, got married, raised a family and basically settled down. After a few years in Toronto, my wife got tired of the city’s 8 months of cold weather and insisted that... More

Further to my April 30th post, I would like to put a shining spotlight on all those who opened up their wallets and donated to the various non-profits on the DonorNation platform...

First and foremost, I want to acknowledge Mr. David Dolgen of San Diego, who goes by the handle doubld...David, blew me away by donating...drum-roll please...$55,000! That's right...it's not a misprint...The bulk of David's money went to Planned Parenthood of San Diego and he also donated to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation...David, my hat's off to you...you are a true Giver and because of your amazing generosity, I will make doubly sure that you do especially well with your portfolio because I know that you will always give and give BIG in the future! Thank You, David!

In addition to David Dolgen, I also want to thank the following individuals:

    Mr. James Hill of Los Angeles donated $7,000 to ArtReach, EcoLife, Reality Changers and the New Children's Museum. James, who is a very talented sculptor, also donated to my company, the beautiful, hand-crafted, 24 carat gold plated DonorNation School Volunteer of the Year Award Trophy...Thank you, James! Here's a link to James' website where you can see his beautiful artwork...My wife and I are proud collectors of his art...Website: www.jameshill.com/ ;

Ms. Lanh Tran of San Diego donated $7,000 to Feeding America.

Ms. Lily Youkhanna donated $7,000 to a number of non-profits.

Mr. Frank Reich donated $2,000 to a couple of non-profits.

    Casey Fersch: $1,000

    Thomas Bangsted: $950

    Damien Iniguez: $500

    Chet Kagel: $500

    Rohan Pendharkar: $500

    Mike Cifone: $350

    Brian Conklin: $300

    Aron Hauser: $100

    Eran Lewis: $70

I am very proud of my band of passionate Givers who collectively gave a total of $82,270(!!!) to various worthy non-profits on the DonorNation platform. To truly appreciate the difference you Givers are making in our Communities, I would like to share an email that James Hill received from the Executive Director of ArtReach:

    From: Judy Berman Silbert

Subject: A huge ArtReach thank you!

Date: May 4, 2014 at 12:03:44 PM PDT

    Hi James,

Your very generous donation to ArtReach has left us quite speechless. Thank you so very much. We feel especially privileged to have the support of artists like you. Thank you for helping us deliver visual arts education to under served schools in our county. Please let me know any time if you would like more information about our program and, please accept this as our first informal thanks for your generosity. You will receive a letter for your records within the next few weeks.

    With great respect,

    Judy

Our other Givers have received very similar thank you notes from the heads of various non-profits who benefited from their respective generosities. What a great feeling, not just for the Givers and the non-profits, but also for me personally, knowing that the Options2Wealth blog played the role of the catalyst.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

May I ask if you and all the other donors who recently used the DonorNation platform to support your favorite cause(s), are happy by the real-time system's ease of use and its transparency and integrity…
Any and all comments will be appreciated...and if I may, encouraged... :-)

Author’s reply » Not sure if I understand...is there some concern on your part as to whether or not the donation from your purchase went to the appropriate non-profit? May I ask the name of your designated non-profit? Also, you said that your purchase showed up late...Was that because the merchant did not ship on time or was the delay due to the courier service...I appreciate you sharing your feedback so that we may ensure that your concerns are properly addressed...thank you...karim

    Hi KP and Team,
I've just made my first donation of $300 to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation Of America. It was pretty simple and straight forward process. I am quite impressed with the process. Thanks for all your hard work in making this a reality.
    Regards

    Hi Karim

My experience with the platform is only through direct donation, not the marketplace function. I found the easy of use really great and the site is easy to navigate as well. The fact that donations are routed through PayPal and that all it takes is just a few quick clicks makes it very attractive, even fun. The only problem I experienced was with not automatically getting a receipt but that was quickly solved.
It’s great to see what you and Casey have managed to turn this blog into and I think the charitable donations will grow exponentially. I, for one, am grateful to be able to continue to learn from you!!

    Hi KP,

One suggestion, about the receipt. When I create an a/c on donor nation, my transactions/donations should show up under my profile view. Other than that, simple to use & with paypal too easy.

    Karim,

love the paypal feature and I hope more charities jump on board.

Here are some things I would like to see:
Love your landing page, but for me its not intuitive how to jump into the auctions.
I would love a feature that takes into account what I like to see and pushes emails to me on current auctions in that category
    Iphone/adroid app
That's all I have for now

    Hi Karim,

Thank you for honoring me with your comments. I have really enjoyed this journey with you. It has pushed me in ways I hadn't expected. In a resent conversation you used words in the same sentence I had not heard together before, philanthropist and James Hill. After struggling as an artist for decades, that really hit me.

I so appreciate you and the great donornation team. This platform made giving so easy and fun. What an honor to be involved with such a great group of people and givers.

    James

Thank you Karim for the awesome money2 conference! I was the one who took your advice on GTAT after seeing your interview with John A. You said "you are the one!" Your teaching was effective and simple to understand! I look forward to being part of your blog and reaching out to others to help educationally and financially. It's so nice to be around true givers with common worthy and selfless goals. I am blessed to know you!!!!

Karim, before I saw your webinar with John Asseraf I never considered doing anything with the stock market. I felt a surge of excitement and possibility that night, and it grew stronger when I saw you speak at the Money2 Event. I have joined Seeking Alpha in order to learn what I can from watching what you do. Thank you for your generosity, to those of us who wish to learn, and to those whom we can help as we gain increasing financial success.

What is the best way to start figuring this stuff out? I've been Googling articles and looking at Youtube videos on how to make and track option investments and read charts. So far I don't feel like I'm getting it well enough to put my money into it. Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Warm Regards,

    J

I've used the Donornation website many times and love the ease of making a donation and the payment system through Paypal. An email notification is sent right away after a donation was placed and everything is transparent. I've also recommended a few non-profits to sign up as well and they found it very easy to enroll.

    I absolutely love it!!

    Hi Karim,

I was super excited to make my first real significant monetary donation to a great cause, The Crohns and Colitis Foundation. It was my first time using the DonorNation platform and I was surprised and happy to find out how easy it was to use. It took almost no time at all and i was able to choose the cause I wanted to donate to and immediately received an email confirmation upon completing the donation. It felt great to be able to give back and I look forward to making many more donations going forward. Thanks again for all that you have done, I feel very privileged to have found out about your blog and have learned a great deal in the process.
