Target and Other Retailers Post Decent Numbers, Bolster Markets

Yesterday's sell off may have been a one time move as so far today market's are holding flat.  Investors have been reassured by positive numbers from retail giants Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT), Target (NYSE:TGT), BJ's Wholesale (NYSE:BJ), and Home Depot (NYSE:HD) over the past few days.

Target posted a 23% gain in earnings for q3 and saw a bit of a pop as a result.  Our model rates Target a BUY.  Based on the information we have gathered and our resulting research, we feel that Target has the probability to OUTPERFORM average market performance for the next year. The company exhibits ATTRACTIVE company size, volatility and price/sales ratio.

Based on available data as of Nov. 17, 2010, we believe that Target should be trading at $65.04. This makes Target 17.30% undervalued. Fair Value indicates what we believe the stock should be trading at today if the stock market were perfectly efficient and everything traded at its true worth. For Target, we base this on actual earnings per share (NYSEARCA:EPS) for the previous four quarters of $3.74, forecasted EPS for the next four quarters of $4.21, and correlations to the 30- year Treasury bond yield of 3.92%.

Below, we include VE data for the above mentioned retailers.
