    ValuEngine.com Rates Gold Miners as Metal Soars to New Highs

      Amidst all the controversy in Washington over the debt ceiling increase, one asset class is doing extremely well--gold.  The metal hit a new record high yesterday at $1612.20/oz. for the Comex August contract.  Analysts argue that uncertainty over sovereign debt in a variety of nations--including the US--is driving the flight to gold.

     Below, we present the latest data on gold mining stocks from our Institutional software package (VEI).  This is a list of the top ten tickers in our database.  We applied some basic liquidity criteria--share price greater than $3 and average daily volume in excess of 100k shares.  We sorted the results by short-term forecast returns.
