Sorry I hide my true identity but I'm a physicist/engineer, native contrarian and idea generator. I am an eclectic dividend investor with motto "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash" applied to companies I invest in. I like to read /and read a lot - did you look on my SA photo 8-)? /... More

    DRAFT

I'd like to figure out how to build a good index for companies that pay dividends and for companies that pay inceasing in time dividends. Such index can be used for an ETF or mutual fund. Dividend mutual funds are an old idea. We need to remember about so called FIXED TRUST which invested in dividend stocks but were wiped out by 1930 recession - see Paul F. Miller, Jr. - Journal Potfolio Management 1979, v. 6, 1 - see www.iijournals.com/toc/jpm and avoid such mistakes.

There are few Mutual Funds and ETF what invest in rising dividends companies, such as PFM PID VIG AADDX ADVDX AVEDX BDJ ICRDX FDGFX FRDPX HDCTX OARDX VDIGX DRIPX.
I collected information about their holdings based on so-called Schedule of Investments from Annual or Semi-Annual Reports published in 2010. I also collected the same information from DVY SDY KSDVX
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find info about The Blackrock Dividend Acheiver funds (XBDVX and XBDJX). I did not collect info about CDGCX CMDGX FADAX FSPIX FTPVX IHGIX IMSAX DIVAX SDVGX GDGIX PRDGX
holdings because I not sure that they invest in exclusively in companies with rising dividends. I use only one class of mutual fund (usually A,C or I) because I guess holdings of different classes of the same fund are almost identical. There are a lot of similarities in these funds/ETFs holdings, so I came with the following list of unique holdings (note "tricky" investment policy of FDGFX - they held companies that might pay dividends in future). The list has more than 800 companies around globe (see non-US companies at the end).
I'd like to note that these mutual funds invest in companies in so-called Dividend Achievers (Champions, Contenders and Challengers) list -see David Fish list at dripinvesting.org/Tools/Tools.asp.
I didn't track dividend record of the following non-USA companies:
Accor SA Agricultural Bank of China Aker Solutions ASA Anglo American PLC (United Kingdom) Anglo Irish Bank Corp.
