Here are investing ideas for the coming year:

Longwei Petroleum (LPH) is a low priced China oil play. Another China play is (OTC:NEWN).

Brigus Gold Corp (BRD) is a nice gold play and is currently trading at only $2.10.

Sandstorm (SNDXF.PK) is a company that works with BRD by purchasing gold streams. The former CEO and CFO of Silver Wheaton are on board and for approximately .80 cents currently, it looks attractive. Another option are warrants (SNXXF.PK) that expire on April 23, 2014. The price of one warrant is .37 cents and it allows you to purchase Sandstorm for .60 cents anytime before 4/23/14.  You can also sell the warrant prior to expiration.

Silver Wheaton (NYSE:SLW) should continue to have a good 2011 after a very strong 2010. Other interesting silver plays are (NYSEARCA:SLV), (NYSEARCA:SIL) or (NYSEARCA:PSLV). These track the price of silver and silver miners. For those looking for individual companies Great Panther (OTC:GPRLF) and First Magestic (NYSE:AG) are attractive.

    Other gold plays for 2011 include (NYSEMKT:NSU), (NYSE:EGO), (NYSEMKT:GORO), (MFN), and (NYSEMKT:NGD).

In the small cap arena, Apogee (NASDAQ:APOG) looks promising and Mitek Systems (NASDAQ:MITK) has exciting software technology.

In dividend paying stocks, solid bets are (NYSE:PM), (NYSE:VZ), (NYSE:XOM), and (NYSE:YUM).

In the medical area, a beaten down name set to bounce back as they get closer to FDA decision is Hansen (NASDAQ:HNSN). Other ideas include Dacor (NYSEMKT:DXR) a thinly traded company with a hefty dividend yield and (NYSE:TEVA), a generic drug maker.

For those who have an appetite for speculation, some potential multibaggers can be found in the following: (all are extremely risky)

Sun Energy (OTCPK:SNEY) is a gold company set to begin production in Africa using dredges. Based on conservative valuations, the price per share may double from current levels by the end of January 2011.

KAT Exploration (OTCPK:KATX) , a gold and copper junior company, is waiting on drill results from its Rusty Ridge property which already found some Rare Earth Elements near the surface. The preliminary news offered new investors a nice entry into the stock with a deep discount to the prior trading range. News should come of their Joint Venture with Vale on their Lucky property in Newfoundland. The company has also spun off their gold property Kat Gold (KATG) onto the OTC market through the symbol (BVIG.ob) and plan to merge KATX into this company in the future.

Trudy (OTC:TRDY) is a clean shell that recently announced it would be taken over by a company that will pursue contracts for rebuilding in war torn areas and those affected by natural disasters.  An 8k providing the details is due soon which may lift the share price. The recent appearance of a NASDAQ market maker on level II has also attracted attention.

The above are a few diverse ideas for 2011. Wishing everyone a Happy & Prosperous New Year !
