    With the election of Shinzo Abe, the BoJ is widely expected to embark on aggressive monetary easing measures, starting with the adoption of an inflation target in the range of 2% or so. When asked why the BoJ is considering an inflation target, BoJ Governor Masaaki Shirakawa stated that "We took into account (Liberal Democratic Party) President Abe's request."
