    The Spanish treasury sold 2.1B euros worth of bonds at a closely followed bond auction. The bond auction was met with unexpectedly strong demand and the 2.1B euros worth of bonds sold was slightly more than planned. France also auctioned off 7.84B euros of debt.

    Meanwhile, the British chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, and Joseph Stiglitz, among others, have repeatedly called for greater integration of European financial policies. Ironically, George Osborne also noted that there was "no way that Britain is going to be part of any euro zone banking union."
