Seeking Alpha Versus Bloomberg: Which One Delivers The Best Cost Adjusted Value?

Research financial analysts at large wall street firms use bloomberg as main data stream service. Additional notorious data stream services include Thomson Reuters and Facset.

These services cost over $20K per sit per year and in total generate revenues for about $15B a year.

Seeking alpha has emerged as an open source, crowd generated financial commentary and data provider. Yet a real data stream for financials, bond issuances, ratios and others offered by the data stream providers mentioned above is not available.

We are studying how financial analysts make use of Seeking alpha in comparison with bloomberg to understand if in the long run more quantitative data will be sourced from seeking alpha as opposed to traditional data stream tools.
