As everyone who follows BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY) knows Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. (FFH.TO) has made a $9.00 offer to take the company private. Today there were some bazaar comments from a Canadian Pension Fund about this sale published in the Financial Post. Leo de Bever, Chief Executive Officer, of the Alberta Investment Management Corp.(Amico) stated in a phone interview:

"It's the most bizarre sales process I've seen in a long time . We're looking at it but nobody's come to us with a proposal that makes any sense."

To this point many people had assumed that Fairfax would likely keep BlackBerry mostly intact, but Bever goes on to state:

"We were looking at the individual assets because that's how you understand the whole company. But it doesn't necessarily mean that we want to take a carving knife to BlackBerry. The odds are that's what's probably going to happen."

Faxfax hasn't named any backers, it makes we wonder if they really have any plan at all.

    Disclosure: I am long BBRY.
