  • How To Start For-Charity Hedge Funds 4 comments
    Mar 28, 2013 1:35 PM

March 2013 publication. I published the following article at Benzinga.com because the subject matter was not within the scope accepted by SeekingAlpha.com: "The Possibility of Starting For-Charity Hedge Funds." The title was clumsily written as "starting hedge fund coops." This has nothing to do with coops. This is about applying the Newman's Own for-charity business model to financial services.

    Of additional interest.

    • HedgeFundGroup.com publishes a free ebook about starting, promoting and working for hedge funds. It is rambling and schlocky but I am finding a few appropriate ideas.
    • A maverick hedge fund manager at Hedgeco agrees with Obama that his taxes are too low: hedgeco.net/news/11/2012/hedge-fund-ceo-obama-is-right-the-rich-are-not-paying-their-fair-share-of-taxes.html

  • Author’s reply » Thank you! I cannot promise this article has practical advice for the average investor. But I do think the subject qualifies as thought-provoking entertainment such as often found at Money.MSN.com.

Also incidentally, after researching about all the hurdles for that article, I am actually planning a for-charity hedge fund myself with modest capital. It does seem doable.

  • I found it especially interesting as I have been thinking about similar things recently. Maybe hearing Jim Cramer talk about his Charity Trust so often finally rang a bell.
