Stopping hair loss and preventing its onset to go further starts by knowing the nature of hair, its growth, and why it falls out. 2 to 3 years is the normal life span of each strand of hair; after that period, it is naturally shed off. An average person has about 100,000 strands of hair on the head. Each strand of hair grows 1 centimeter per month. There are approximately 20 to 80 strands that go through the shedding phase every day.

Abnormal or excessive hair loss is due to DHT (dihydrotestosterone), a hormone that damages the hair follicles. This hormone takes over the scalp cells and causes destruction in the normal hair growth cycle. The presence of DHT causes the miniaturization or shrinking of the hair follicles, thereby making it incapable to grow hair in a normal rate.

DHT is proven to be the primary cause of male- and female-pattern hair loss. The production of DHT in the scalp causes the hair follicles to eventually shrink; that is why DHT is the main antagonist in the production of hair. It is only logical to treat hair loss by eliminating DHTs. DHT, however, is bound to come back since it is produced through the contact of 5-alpha reductase enzymes and testosterone, which are natural biological elements of our body.

Fortunately, the buildup of DHT can be inhibited. Hair loss products with DHT inhibitors come in many forms are available in the market. Rogaine or minoxidil is one of those DHT blockers. It is a topical treatment for hair loss. Another is Propecia or finasteride, an oral drug treatment that prevents further hair loss. More people actually prefer Propecia since it is taken orally while others avoid the hassles of applying topical solutions. Although these medications are easy to take and apply and are effective, they pose harmful side effects because of their heavy content of chemicals.

Thankfully, there is Leimo, a complete-organic-based hair loss treatment. The line of Leimo products contains organic ingredients. The Leimo Bio-Cleansing Shampoo contains mistletoe and fennel extracts. The Leimo Scalp Therapy and Serum contain saw palmetto extracts. With each ingredient having hair-loss-fighting properties, Leimo products are indeed more effective and safe to use in stopping hair loss.
