Filing in Focus: Carnival 8-K, March 25, 2014

Carnival Corporation (NYSE:CCL) announced its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2014, reporting earnings that declined from a year ago as it continues to battle lingering effects from its problems last year. The world's largest cruise company, which operates under its namesake brand and several other brands, posted adjusted earnings that fell from $67M and $0.08 per share last year to $2M and $0.00 per share this quarter while revenues were flat from last year at $3.6B. Carnival had a $17M net unrealized loss on fuel derivatives, which had an impact on earnings. President and CEO Arnold Donald commented that adjusted earnings were better than expected thanks to ticket prices and that the company has many exciting developments including a partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises and music artists for its Live Concert Series.

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours.
