An increase in operating expenses dampened the company's operating income to a more modest increase to $282.5M from $269.2M a year ago. Earnings rose from the year-ago $116.4M and $1.71 per share to $137.4M and $2.19 per share. President and CEO Ed Heffernan commented that the company's results were better than expected and as a result, the company will raise its earnings guidance. All segments was marked increases in performance, which combined with new client revenue to start soon and a lower diluted share count, will help drive earnings growth.
