Should we come together as a nation and raise our standard for what constitutes "BREAKING NEWS"?

Really!? Did someone Photoshop that or is it real? I only listen to CNBC in the background 90% of the time so I'm sure I had it on when that came up, but I rarely see what's on the screen.

Unfortunately, with the possible exception of Brian Williams and maybe one or two others, we saw the last breath of real "news" with the retirements of the last few of the true great news men (& women) - Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, etc.

Remove Rather from that list, and I'll agree with you.

To each his own. I am curious why you feel that way though.

Dan Rather - made a mockery of a sitting president and decided to create news rather than report it.
His predecessor, Walter Cronkite, would never have done either.
Cronkite was a jewel, Rather was a jerk.

So so sad the level we seem determined to devolve to. Funny at times, nonetheless.
