One silver lining in the current market mayhem, is that good companies can become affordable. FLIR Systems is a leader in imaging products used in both commercial and military applications.
We like the company. Their growth had slowed recently, mostly as a result of the military side of their business. Growth on the commercial side has been much healthier.
In our recent SeekingAlpha article on FLIR, our biggest concern was that the stock seemed a bit over valued at $32. When we last wrote about FLIR the price was high. VineSecurityJournal values technology stocks using a model that projects the value of future company earnings. We calculated a target at $24, and as of Monday, you can buy in at $23 plus change, providing a buying opportunity that we may not see for while.
It is a tough time to be a buyer, but if you believe in buying quality stocks, and not timing markets, this might be the moment.
Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, but may initiate a long position in FLIR over the next 72 hours.
