It seems like each time stocks get hit and 85% or more of all stocks become undervalued a rally ensues. Then at 80% or less undervalued stocks get hit given negative weekly and monthly technical chart profiles. Remember my “Fearless Prediction of the Week”: The closes in August were above my annual pivots at 11,491 Dow Industrial Average and 1210.7 S&P 500. Even so I warned that the weekly charts would remain negative on closes below the five-week modified moving averages 11,675 Dow and 1227.7 SPX on a negative reaction to the payrolls data. In addition, the monthly charts shift to negative at the end of September given closes below five-month modified moving averages at 11,954 Dow and 1273.5 SPX. For September the neutral zone for the Dow Industrial Average is between the 200-week, 120-month simple moving averages at 10,705 and 10,595 and the “Death Cross” at the 50-day and 200-day at 11,858 and 11,997. My annual pivot at 11,491 remains a magnet between the extremes.
