  • The NASDAQ lags potential Santa Claus Rally 0 comments
Dec 23, 2011 2:01 AM | about stocks: TLT, GLD, MU, NVDA, CSCO, UTX, RTN, WBA
Dow Industrials and Dow Transports are in rally mode above both 50-day and 200-day simple moving averages at 11,937 and 11,862 Industrials and 4920 and 4840 Transports. The S&P 500 is between its 50-day at 1232.6 and its 200-day at 1259.4. The NASDAQ is below its 50-day and 200-day SMAs at 2617 and 2662. Tech stocks need to participate to help Rudolf guide Santa’s Sleigh Saturday night. The yield on the 10-Year US Treasury is below its 50-day SMA at 2.043, but my weekly risky level at 1.826 remains the barrier. Gold continues to have a tough time trending back above its 200-day SMA at $1619.0. Crude oil remains above its 50-day and 200-day SMAs at $95.45 and $95.75, and a bullish crossover should help Santa deliver. The euro remains oversold on its daily chart and a higher euro will insure the Santa Claus Rally.

Definition of MOJO – This is my term for technical momentum. I use what’s called “12x3x3 slow stochastic readings” from daily, weekly and monthly charts. The scale is zero to 10.0 where above 8.0 is overbought and below 2.0 is oversold.
