OVERLAND PARK,Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Board of Directors of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. (NYSE: WDR) approved an increase in the quarterly dividend on its Class A common stock to $0.25 per share payable on February 1, 2012 to stockholders of record as of January 3, 2012. This new quarterly rate represents an increase of 25% over the previous $0.20 dividend per share rate. The Boards decision to increase our dividend reflects the companys strong capital position, said Henry J. Herrmann, chairman and chief executive officer, and our commitment to returning value to our stockholders.

Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. will announce fourth quarter 2011 earnings before trading begins on the New York Stock Exchange, Tuesday, January 31, 2012, followed by a conference call at 10:00 a.m. Eastern.
