CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- USG Corporation (USG) today announced the release of its Corporate Sustainability Report Update. The voluntary report, titled Building in Harmony, describes USGs approach to sustainability and the companys commitment to responsible business practices. Sustainable development can be described as the practice of efficiently using energy and natural resources to meet current needs without compromising the needs of future generations. USG defines sustainability as balancing economic, environmental and social factors to guide business decisions creating long term value for the corporation, its stakeholders and society.

The report highlights three areasenvironmental, social and economic sustainability, reviewing USGs efforts and progress through 2011 and clarifying the companys future objectives.

It aligns USGs corporate strategy with environmental sustainability and comprises three main priorities: develop responsible customer solutions; enhance energy management; and improve resource utilization.

The second section describes USGs social responsibility and its long-standing commitment to communities in which it conducts business.
