Celebrity Chefs, Energetic Events and Fantastic Food Abound During Live Cooking Demonstrations In Cities Nationwide
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Macys Great American Chefs Tour is embarking on a cross-country road trip, pairing the celebrity chefs of Macys Culinary Council with live cooking demonstrations, food tastings and a celebration of local culinary talent from coast-to-coast. Renowned chefs from Macys Culinary Council including Rick Bayless, Cat Cora, Marcus Samuelsson and Johnny Iuzzini will visit Macys stores, culinary schools and other venues in more than 15 cities this summer, where they will prepare signature dishes using local ingredients, share cooking tips with the audience, dish out delicious samples and spotlight the talents of local chefs. For culinary fans not able to attend the tour events, The Great American Chefs Tour, hosted by celebrity chef and The New York Times best-selling author Devin Alexander, will air on public television stations nationwide beginning in September, sponsored by Macys.
For nearly 10 years, Macys Culinary Council has been a valuable resource of culinary knowledge and talent that inspires our customers, and we are excited to take these stellar chefs on the road as part of Macys Great American Chefs Tour, said Amy Kule, group vice president national events and partnership marketing for Macys Parade and Entertainment Group. This dynamic program includes both engaging live events at Macys stores and venues nationwide, as well as a national television series for public television stations, allowing us a new opportunity to share their expertise with fans in local culinary communities.
Kicking off today in Seattle, the Macys Great American Chefs Tour will continue through mid-July, making stops in more than 15 cities along the way including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, New Orleans, Miami, New York City, Detroit and Minneapolis. The tour events will take place at Macys stores, culinary schools and select other venues and will feature celebrity chefs from Macys Culinary Council hosting informative and fun cooking demonstrations with the goal of teaching the audience how to pick, prepare and serve dishes that make the most of locally-grown ingredients. In each city along the route, the Council chefs will be joined by local culinary talent and dynamic host and chef Devin Alexander who will lend their own expertise to cooking demonstrations. Audience members will not only receive great tips about sourcing and preparing fresh, local ingredients, but a chance to sample the delicious dishes being prepared. Starting in September, The Great American Chefs Tour, sponsored by Macys, will air as a separate 26-episode weekly television series on public television stations nationwide.
