SAN DIEGO, June 11, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- City National Bank, California and Nevada's Premier Private and Business Bank ®, today announced the appointment of Bruce Ford to regional business banking manager San Diego, California, and Nevada. In his new regional position, Ford will manage five business banking relationship managers in San Diego and Nevada who will be responsible for sourcing business and loan requests from companies with revenues ranging from $3 million to $20 million. The bank's branch system is responsible for taking care of small businesses with revenues under $3 million, while the bank's Commercial Banking Services group will handle banking relationships for companies with revenues over $20 million.
"The majority of loan requests we're seeing in all of our markets are for small and medium size companies with revenues under $20 million," Ford said. "With businesses starting to access capital again, we wanted to make sure we had the business model and resources in place to handle increased loan demand in this market segment."
City National is currently in the process of hiring seasoned banking professionals to fill several positions for business banking relationship managers in San Diego and Nevada. These individuals will report directly to Ford, but will work very closely with branch managers and relationship managers in Core Banking, Commercial Banking Services, Private Client Services and other areas of the bank to source new business and refer business to these other areas that don't fit their segment.
Ford, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, joined City National in 2009 after serving as regional president and chief operating officer for Community Bank of Nevada. During his tenure in banking, Ford has worked for Wells Fargo Bank, First Security Bank, Pioneer Citizens Bank, First Interstate Bank, and Nevada State Bank. He also worked for Pentagon Federal Credit Union in Virginia where he began his banking career in 1983.
Ford graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with an emphasis in investments. He is also a graduate of the School of Retail Bank Management at the University of Virginia, and the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. He was also an instructor at the Community College of Southern Nevada for the American Institute of Banking, where he taught commercial lending and general banking courses.
Ford is a member of the UNLV Alumni Association Scholarship Committee and Nevada Development Authority Recruitment Committee. He also serves on the board of the Urban Financial Services Coalition and is a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Sigma Pi Phi Professional Fraternity. Ford is also a graduate of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Leadership Las Vegas Class of 2004.
