Nordson Corporation Earns Prestigious LEED® Certification for its Headquarters Facility
WESTLAKE, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN) today celebrates the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Sliver certification of its headquarters building in Westlake, Ohio. The building becomes the first corporate headquarters in the greater Cleveland area to be awarded LEED certification, according to the U.S. Green Building Councils LEED Projects & Case Studies Directory. LEED is the U.S. Green Building Councils leading rating system for designing and constructing the worlds greenest, most energy efficient, and high performing buildings.
The 28,000 square-foot facility was opened in November 2010 and incorporates a number of significant leading green building technologies. Environmentally friendly features include energy optimized lighting, HVAC and water systems, a partial green roof planted with native vegetation, a parking lot and landscape design that mitigates storm water generation, reflective white roofing materials that reduce heat island effects and regionally sourced and recycled construction materials.
Nordsons LEED certification demonstrates tremendous green building leadership, said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chair, U.S. Green Building Council. The urgency of USGBCs mission has challenged the industry to move faster and reach further than ever before, and Nordson serves as a prime example with just how much we can accomplish.
Cleveland-area architectural firm Clark & Post Architects was instrumental in helping Nordson realize the goal of designing a building that reflects its values and philosophy. Beyond providing a payback on the investment made in the systems, the choice of high efficiency equipment and enhanced design is a tangible representation of Nordsons dedication to not only the environment, but also local communities, said Ronald A. Cocco, President, Clark & Post Architects.
Our headquarters environmentally friendly construction and features are consistent with our corporate philosophy and values, which include an emphasis on creating long-term benefits for the communities where we operate, said Michael F. Hilton, Nordson President and CEO.
