Rhode Island Bank Expands Commercial Banking Presence in Connecticut

WESTERLY, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Washington Trust (WASH) announced that the Bank has hired Timothy M. Pickering , a former Senior Vice President of Commercial Real Estate for Citizens Bank, as Senior Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Lending. Pickering of Essex, Connecticut joins Suzanne Walsh , Commercial Real Estate Vice President, in Washington Trusts Commercial Real Estate Group activities in the Connecticut market area.

Pickering will be responsible for identifying commercial real estate mortgages including refinancing, acquisition, re-development and construction of various property types including multi-family, retail, office, industrial and hotels in Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y.

Prior to joining Washington Trust, Pickering served as Senior Vice President of Commercial Real Estate for Citizens Bank in Middletown, Connecticut for the past 15 years. He also has more than 12 years of commercial real estate lending experience with BankBoston, Citytrust, and the Irving Trust Company.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Pickering holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvanias Wharton School of Business. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Essex Historical Society and is a former board member of the Nehemiah Housing Corporation. He is also a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and the Shoreline Soup Kitchen.
