Zilog Announces New “World of Sensors Board” Supporting the Mini-Z Stamp Family Featuring a Wide Array of Sensor Solutions
MILPITAS, Calif. & BIEL, Switzerland--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Zilog (ZILG) ®, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IXYS Corporation and a pioneer supplier of application-specific, embedded microcontroller (MCU) system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for the industrial, power management, medical, automotive and consumer applications, today introduced a new reference design, its new World of Sensors (WoS) Design Board.
The WoS Design Board offers Zilog customers greater freedom to develop products that may require several types of sensing solutions within the same design. It is a complete and easy to use development platform for Zilogs series of Mini-Z" stamp modules and provides customers with a simple-to-use platform to develop prototypes and projects incorporating multiple sensors. The WoS Design Board includes the following seven different sensors, each on different peripherals: an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, a humidity sensor, a microphone, a pressure sensor, a proximity sensor, and a temperature sensor.
The WoS Design Board ships complete with a serial LCD display and USB serial communication - serial cables are not required. Offering multiple types of built-in wireless support and engineered to capitalize on the advanced functionality of Zilogs series of Mini-Z modules, the Board showcases the interaction of these sensors independent of the module being used and enables even more creative projects by simply swapping out modules. The new WoS Board is designed to work best with Zilogs series of Mini-Z modules.
Zilog, as a part of IXYS, maintains a continuing commitment to supporting our customers with devices that have long product life cycles, especially in power management, where IXYS has been growing worldwide. With the growth of digital power management in energy-efficient products for clean energy generation, automation, appliances, automotive, lighting and telecommunication, we believe that also offering these Mini-Z platforms and Reference Designs allows us to accelerate the adoption of our MCU solutions in these markets, said Steve Darrough, Zilogs VP of Marketing. The World of IXYS, especially for our customers, now includes power semiconductors, analog ICs, Mixed-Signal ICs, SSRs, MCUs and RF devices to complete a synergy of system design possibilities like no other semiconductor company.
Zilogs Mini-Z Stamps and Boards are now available for customers directly from the online Zilog Store. For more information, visit www.zilog.com.
