John Hancock Takes Home Overall Industry Leadership Award
FALLS CHURCH, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced the 2012 winners of the third annual Connect for Life and Annuity Awards, which recognize CSC clients for exceptional results achieved in policy administration, information technology, customer experience and social networking, and for setting outstanding examples in the area of regulatory compliance leadership. CSCs North American client community nominated and selected the winning carriers, which were honored at an awards ceremony attended by more than 400 of their peers at the CSC Connect for Life and Annuity conference in New Orleans.
John Hancock Financial Services of Boston, a unit of Manulife Financial Corporation, received the overall Industry Leadership Award for upgrading its existing VANTAGE-ONE and Distribution Support System (DSS) mainframe environments to a new zLinux distributed platform for a lower total cost of ownership.
With current market conditions impacting the annuity business, we were looking for innovative, cutting-edge technology to lower our operating costs and optimize our platforms efficiency and effectiveness, said Tony Todisco, vice president, John Hancock Annuity Systems. We decided to embark on this project because we have a long-standing relationship with CSC and have a track record of success with them in other large projects. The strategic move is expected to generate significant cost savings.

This year the carrier was recognized for an upgrade of CyberLife completed with staffing support from CSCs managed services, setting a standard for timely software upgrades.
