Avnet Tech Games Registration Opens Nationwide for Fall Virtual Competition
Students across U.S. Expected to Compete for Thousands of Dollars in Scholarship Money
PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), a leading global technology distributor, has announced that registration is now open for college students across the nation to compete in the fall Virtual Avnet Tech Games. The virtual games help students prepare for real-world business opportunities and compete for a chance to win up to $1,000 in scholarships. This years competitive events include the Android" App Showdown, Design the Best Windows 8 Computer, Supply Chain Challenge and the Virtual Digital Design Dilemma.
The virtual games expand the breadth of the Avnet Tech Games, which are held each April at The University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Ariz. This annual collegiate competition challenges Arizona students to solve real-world problems with technology. Both the traditional competitive events of the Avnet Tech Games and the virtual games require students to test their knowledge, creativity, decision-making, problem solving and technical skills.

The fall Virtual Avnet Tech Games include:
- Android" App Showdown Students develop a Google Android" App using Google's Android" SDK and Open API.
- Design the Best Windows 8 Computer Teams compete to design the best all-around Microsoft Windows 8 computer solution for a specific scenario.
- Supply Chain Challenge Students will have the opportunity to manage a made-to-order factory and make forecasting, capacity and inventory and pricing decisions. The winning team will be the one that maximizes its profits by managing the assets within this factory.
- Virtual Digital Design Dilemma Participants will demonstrate their ability to synthesize ideas by mapping out a design methodology to create and document a working digital design in a Xilinx FPGA.
Registration for the fall Virtual Avnet Tech Games closes Sept. 28th. Winning students may apply their scholarship to any accredited college in the U.S.
