FirstEnergy Hurricane Sandy Outage Update
November 6, 2012 6 a.m. update.
Akron, Ohio Service continues to be restored to FirstEnergy (FE) customers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland who lost power as a result of Hurricane Sandy.
As of 6 a.m., the current FirstEnergy outage totals by utility include:
- Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) Less than 258,000 of 1.2 million customers affected
- Mon Power Less than 27,000 of 201,000 customers affected
- Metropolitan Edison (Met-Ed) Less than 7,000 of 270,000 customers affected
- Potomac Edison Less than 2,200 of 150,000 customers affected

Customers also should immediately report downed wires to their electric company or local police or fire department. Always assume downed wires are carrying electricity, and keep children and pets away from downed wires.
